It's best to always fight where you feel most comfortable and safe - and where it is manageable. YOu have elevate view on everything and the places they can attack is very limited plus the have to climb. On the elevated sidewalks (next to the pillars the vermins are climbing down) and so far this looked like the best place. In Righteous Stand at the final defense in the temple, i observed that in around 80% of the cases people seems to run straight to this point in the room and want to defend here.
